In the spirit of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, I offer this Life Affirmation: waking at four am from a dream straight from the Dark Night of the Soul provides two benefits: 1) you’re awake, therefore, the dream stops. Granted, the wake-up is unpleasant and so are the lingering effects. However 2) You’re alive so who knows what comes next. Thin piercing rain, in this specific instance but who knows what comes after that.
Are the creative juices all dried up? Is the current draft a hopeless piece of…never mind. Repeat 1) you are awake, therefore further writing exists as a possibility 2) as above.
At this point, the best I can say for the thing: long pause here. Some of yesterday’s cacophony plays in my head – the coaching sessions were but a part of the tumbrels of nonsense. Literal non-sense where everyone pursues the expression of his or her True Meaning in a verbal mash-up that leaves me KO.
Through it all, three positives in my personal agenda: a bit of the lodging issue resolved for a few more weeks; a bit of the job issue resolved for someone else; a bit of further training assured for another party. After all order – i.e. meaning – is one of the possible states of chaos.
Helps when everyone isn’t racing around with minimal regard for other bodies and opinions in his or her bit of barnyard.
The title to this blogpost expresses my fervent wish for today, both in terms of fiction and of real-life events. By order, I don’t mean tidiness. But neatness is OK if it means a school doesn’t have to provide soap, tooth paste and tooth brush to a kid so he can join his class looking and smelling like the rest of the children in his age group.
P.S. and to this also, if I may, I add Amen.
