A brief morning entry for now. The title refers to what are known as pays d’origine sûr (Safe countries of origin). At last reading, the list of safe countries of origin stood at sixteen. Given the new deal concerning good and bad migrants, I suppose Turkey will be added to the list as the country of safe deposit and retention.
At any rate, after reading about Afghanistan, I had to learn more about the definition of a safe country of origin. Apparently, in this specific instance, bright minds have subdivided the country into zones of severe disruption and zones of minor disruption. Should you have fled from a zone presently defined as subjected to minor disruption, you are denied asylum and sent back to the minor disruptions awaiting at your landing point.
All very scientific. I’m sure the folks putting together the list have degrees beyond the minimum.
Lots to do outside story land today. Still trying to remember the ditty about the magpies that flew out of a large pastry but there’s no time left for that right now.
