Sometimes, the next scene shows up like a given. Cut to this character. Or mark a few beats and continue with the same one. Or jot down a few insistent words on which to build a further development.
Now? A need to step back. Filaments of story float around with information about how, and why. Useful strands, all of them, but still floating in search of something on which to bond.
The day – first meeting in less than an hour. Physical fatigue washed over me last night. Still present, still suggesting a few more hours of sleep would do me the greatest of good. No doubt this is true.
Or daydreaming instead of dealing with agenda items, one, two, three, next. As if the day were a matter of entering check marks on a list.
