green, then blue, then red, then… green, then red, then, oops…

so here we are, stuck in another moment of collective panicky navel gazing + hand wringing. Why why why, how could this happen, all those idiots voting for omygawd etc. If nothing else, proof positive panic, navel gazing+hand wringing don’t do much to improve individual or collective living time. Which is brief, as everyone keeps repeating before starting a fresh round of why why why and if only.

Worked with a little boy yesterday, figuring out instructions on one of those Start Here and End Here illustrations. The instructions read: Badou wants to visit Lulu. To reach her, he must always step on a green, then a blue, then a red stone. For a good while, the little boy got stuck in a loop that led from one such set to another, then back again. Green, then blue, then red. Look again, Adam. Green, then blue…

Huge, billowing appeals out there. To mind numbing anger, rage, despair, finger pointing, disgust, despondency, outrage and/or total paralysis of will.

In the meantime, story-wise, I’m somewhere in that loop six-year-old Adam fell into yesterday. There’s got to be another green, then blue, then red combo I’m not seeing right this minute. Everyone’s dead set on insisting we’re all going to hell in a basket. This may be so. Then again, this may be not. Certainly, there’s tons of energy expended on crashing down the basket to prove we’re in hell already.

I’d rather take in the scenery while it’s there. Call it basic, Level One resistance to indoctrination.
