moments when you struggle for composure
moments when you know you can wish all you like for life to play out in a different pattern but you’ve got to take it the way it shows up, and make what you can of what the moment provides.
for the time being, sadness, tears, longing for closeness with people I love – my daughter among them. distance, time and physical location. distance, misunderstandings, crossed signals, missed opportunities.
and so on.
a rough start to the day.
more sweltering heat in store. someone scheduled to visit this apartment tomorrow, some clean-up required.
friends, offering to put me up in August, if need be.
fighting off the Siren-call of the familiar, self-pitying where did I go wrong? If only with the notion that, if I’ve gone wrong, a lot of reality does the same on a regular basis.
So. Pack up your troubles in the old kit bag, and so on. Gather the dog hair, bring out the garbage, shut all windows while the air still holds some coolness in it.
