Blue Velvet Cap

Energy-wise, there’s not much left over after a day like yesterday. Slow climb up the ramp, knowing the afternoon involves two new children, both to be paired with two others I’ve been coaching for a few months.

Before he leaves town for good, I’ll have to ask the clown who played town crier where he found one of his hats. At first glance, I’d say it comes from the South East – Thailand or some other country in that general area. Dark blue velvet, decorated with carved wooden figures painted in gold. A crown of sorts, topped with a golden cockerel with the cockscomb dabbed with red. Both ceremonial and silly, the way military badges and ribbons are. Rituals are like that because so are we. No matter what, the child is never far away. Wondering what it’s all about. How. Why.

Blue sky. Not a cloud in sight for the moment. Slow climb to the energy for dressing, walking the dog, exchanging banter at the bakery. Then, on from there.
